This chart shows how stocks grouped by rating performed in 2015 compared to the performance of the S&P 500 index. The base for the performance calculation is December 31, 2014, close-of-trading prices, at which point the value of each time-series is set to 100.

Stocks rated 'BUY' include all U.S. stocks rated by our stock valuation model on January 1 as 'buy' or 'strong buy' based on the stock intrinsic value calculation. Stocks rated 'SELL' include all U.S. stocks rated by our stock valuation model on January 1 as 'sell' or 'strong sell' based on the stock intrinsic value calculation.

The performance of stocks is calculated as the performance of a portfolio equally-weighted at the start of the monitoring (January 1), without subsequent adjustment of the stock weights (the 'buy-and-hold' strategy). Dividends are included in the calculation of the stock performance, e.i. the graphs represent average total return of stocks in each rating category.
